Did you know that a large amount of medicines are wasted each year in Cheshire and Merseyside? We need your help to tackle this. By only ordering what you need, you can help yourself, your community, and the environment.
- Stay Well & Safe: Ordering only what you need helps prevent stockpiling. Unused medicines can expire and may not work as intended, and keeping a stockpile at home increases risks for you, your children, and pets. Remember, medicines are prescribed for you and should never be shared.
- Stay Green: Medicines account for around 25% of the NHS carbon footprint in England. Once a medicine leaves the pharmacy, it cannot be used by anyone else. By reducing waste, you are helping to prevent pollution in our rivers, seas, and soil.
- Stay Organised: Before ordering your repeat prescription, please check what you already have at home. Only request the items you need this time. If you are going into hospital, take your current medicines with you to help staff provide seamless care and avoid unnecessary duplicate prescriptions.
What you can do:
- Check before you order: Review your current medicines at home before requesting your repeat prescription.
- Check your bag: Before leaving the pharmacy, make sure you have only what you need.
- Dispose of medicines safely: Return any unused or out-of-date medicines and used inhalers to your pharmacy for safe disposal.
- Attend your medication reviews.

Holmlands Medical Centre this year have part of Asthma, COPD and Diabetic audits – looking at patients current treatments and action plans. They have conducted in depth consultations with targeted patients and provided their expertise for support these patients.

Holmlands Medical Centre is fully committed to achieve the best health for our patients including weight management.
NHS England are going to pick up patients from our list who qualify for that criteria, hence we are not able to prescribe Mounjaro or any weight reducing injections directly.

The Living Well service is built on the principles of listening to communities and meeting their needs by bringing the right services to them. The service, delivered by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, operates on a fully drop-in basis. It offers all routine NHS immunisations, health checks and mental health support. 01/07/2025 – Self-referral system launched for health coaches

Sometimes GPs and ANPs have to deal with very sick patients and a referral has to made to hospital which does cause delays. We have a duty doctor dealing with urgent requests but sometimes patients on pre-bookable appointments can also have life or limb-threatening situations.
If you can’t wait for any reason, please rebook. The surgery can’t update and text all patients booked on the day at every hour about the delays which are not in the health professionals’ control.
